Partial refunds of credit card transactions
Allow me to apply a partial refund of a credit card transaction. In instances of overpayments, we only need to refund a portion.

We would love to be able to do partial refunds. When we have to refund the whole amount and then rerun the card to cover the difference we have to pay our fees all over again, plus contact patients to let them know what is going on. Being able to do partials would benefit our company.

Agree with so many below, not being able to process partial refunds for cc transactions is outdated and makes our practices look unprofessional. It is not sufficient to simply say 'apply it as a credit'.

Yes! Also, if we refund with a check instead of to their CC, we can't get rid of the credit on the account! So messy and frustrating!

Not only would be simply awesome it is a standard practice with most businesses!! Hope this is implemented very soon!

100% agree. This is a necessary upgrade and common to most CC processing systems.

As others have said, it's highly unprofessional to have to refund the full amount, to then turn around and charge the card for a partial amount. Not to mention, difficult for clients to understand as this is not a normal process that takes place in day to day business.

If I knew this beforehand I wouldn't have switched my cc processing

This is one of the key drawbacks to this system. Providers have literally been asking for this for years. This post is from 2018! It's very peculiar that the company hasn't made this available yet.

We should have a partial refund option. It looks like poor business to have to refund a total then charge the card again.

Based on reviews customers have been asking for this feature for more than 2 years. The way the system is currently set up is an all-or-nothing feature. We can't refund a specific amount or a portion of a credit card transaction currently which is completely ridiculous and causes our practice more work. I would like to have more control over the amount to
refund from a credit card transaction. Theranest should be working for the customers and continuing to move with the market. -

Yes- this is very much needed. Another issue this causes is that you have to run two charge transactions (charge original, refund original, then charge the remaining amount), you’re paying a processing fee both times and theranest says they can’t waive it. Doesn’t seem fair for us to pay extra because of a limitation on what should be a basic function.

We need the ability to issue partial credit card refunds, it has made it so difficult on our practice when reconciling an account and has caused issues with client to the detriment of a client leaving out practice. This is a huge administrative burden for our practice- the inability to refund a specific amount sounds so ridiculous to our clients that we've begun issuing checks instead- which then creates a significant amount of work to reconcile the amounts come tax time. This along with a few other issues is placing our practice in a situation where we have considered looking else where for a PMS.

This is a basic accounting function. Theranest is sorely lacking.

We desperately need to be able to specify the amount of a refund. I have to piece together several transactions to come close to the amount I need to refund and then I still end up with a small balance or credit. It's messy on our end for a multitude of reasons including bookkeeping, but it also doesn't look good on the customer end to have a bunch of small refunds trying to equal the amount they are due.
