Add new name field to client details
Add a new name field other than "preferred name", such as "name on documentation" for our clients who are transgender. The "preferred name" field delegitimizes their experience, but we need to record their first name and their name that appears on legal documentation.

I would love to see the "name" line on the intake paperwork changed to "legal name" and have "preferred name" option updated to something more along the lines of "name used." Working with clients who are transgender, gender nonconforming, or who have a trauma history connected with their legal name, it is not a matter of preference, and I want my intake paperwork to make that clear right out of the gate.

This is current best practice in the care of LGBTQIA+ clients. The term "preferred name" is no longer considered acceptable.

"Preferred name" is no longer considered appropriate by people who have changed the name they go by. I think the best way to fix this is to make "first name" in place of preferred name, and then a second line below for "legal name". Also that first name will be the name displayed on reminders.
